The Emergency in Moldova

A dramatic reality that we cannot ignore

Dear friends, I am Giampiero Tescione, President of AIUTO BIMBI Charity in San Benedetto del Tronto, Marche region, Italy. Our purpose is to help poor, orphan, needy and disadvantaged children. We would like to direct our support and efforts toward some children of Moldova, who we know live in dramatic and desperate conditions and are forgotten by everyone.

Our primary goal is to create a FAMILY HOME near Chisinau to welcome poor, orphan and needy children. We are a small humanitarian and charitable organization made up entirely of private citizens, without any state aid, and we rely on the collaboration and contribution of volunteers to help us achieve this highly social purpose and desire.

Street Children in Moldova

Street children and abandoned children in Moldova represent a dramatic reality, the result of extreme poverty, "white orphans" (children of emigrant parents) and institutionalization trauma. Many minors are vulnerable to trafficking, sexual exploitation and forced labor, often facing dilapidated conditions in orphanages.

Moldova, the poorest country in Eastern Europe, has seen thousands of minors grow up without parents (who emigrated for work) or in dilapidated orphanages with inadequate resources. Over 100,000 children grow up without parents, often left with elderly grandparents.

Upon turning sixteen, many young people leave institutions without support, often ending up on the streets or in racket circles. This is a reality we cannot continue to ignore.
